Honoring Our Longest Farm Family Member

Rocky Park Farm >> Farm Happenings >> Honoring Our Longest Farm Family Member

This summer we undertook some beautification projects around the farm, the biggest of which was sprucing up the weathered farm stand. Over the course of the late spring we began repainting the entire stand and building, painting, and then installing shelving for displaying our farm grown plants and produce.

Farmer Phyllis also took on a project that was near and dear to the Kirksey’s heart: A new barn quilt. This project took over a month from conception to completion. She lovingly labored in drawing, painting, and piecing together a tribute to our longest farm family member.

In honor of our beloved farm cat, Trixie, the barn quilt was unveiled over the summer. It is so touching to see Trixie, in all of her beauty, protecting the farm from rodents or even insects, enjoying the view, and lapping up the sunshine.

If you have visited the farm and turned toward the farm stand and wandered what the sign “Trixie Way” represented, this is the namesake. We hope you will stop to enjoy Farmer Phyllis’ talent and the heart behind the barn quilt at your next visit to Rocky Park Farm.
